We also hold deposited archive collections from some of the physicians and surgeons who have been associated with the College over hundreds of years. Connecting to our locality in the West of Scotland, we also hold many records relating to local medical societies and associations. We've digitised a selection of items from our archive collections, and we add new items regularly. Title A name given to the resource William Lyon Description An account of the resource Photographic portrait of Dr William Lyon. William Lyon qualified by gaining his license from the then Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 1816, becoming a Fellow in 1828. He became Surgeon to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1844 and Lecturer of Surgery at the Portland Street Medical School. He gained an honorary MD from the University of Glasgow in 1859. Lyon was president of the College from 1860 to 1862.
