Portrait of Mr Douglas H Clark, President 1980-1982 Seated half-length in a blue jacket against a blue background. Clark gained his MBChB from the University of Glasgow in 1940, with the help of bursaries from the Rainy Foundation and the Miners Welfare. He worked for some time with Sir Charles Illingworth and also spent a period serving in the army. He was Senior Registrar at the Glasgow Western Infirmary and was a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He gained a ChM in 1950 and an MD in 1957. He then worked as a consultant surgeon at the Glasgow Western Infirmary.
