Thomas Thomson graduated from MBChB from the University of Glasgow in 1945. For the majority of his career he worked as Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at Stobhill General Hospital in Glasgow. He was heavily involved in the teaching of clinical medicine and held teaching positions at the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Northern Hospitals. Thomson was President of the College from 1982 to 1984.
