Joseph Wright studied at the University of Glasgow and graduated MBChB in 1922, and MD in 1932. 1932 was a momentous year for Wright as he also became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. The majority of his career was spent as Senior Consultant Physician at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, as well as Clinical Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. Wright was President of the College from 1960 to 1962.
