We also hold deposited archive collections from some of the physicians and surgeons who have been associated with the College over hundreds of years. Connecting to our locality in the West of Scotland, we also hold many records relating to local medical societies and associations. Title A name given to the resource Photograph of Joseph Lister Memorial Stone Description An account of the resource Digital photograph of the Joseph Lister Memorial Stone at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. This stone commemorates the site of Lister Wards where Joseph Lister famously pioneered his practice of antisepsis. The stone reads: "On this site stood the surgical wards in which from 1861 to 1869 Joseph Lister surgeon to the Royal Infirmary and Regius Professor of Surgery in the University of Glasgow intiated the method of antiseptic treatement."
