At the age of thirteen he had his first picture accepted into the Society of Scottish Artists. He graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1952. He is a professional artist specialising in portraiture, and has had numerous notable sitters, including HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and The Honourable Lord Cameron. He has held exhibitions in The Royal Academy London, the Paris Salon, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and Prouds Art Gallery in Sydney.
