            <text>Morrocco, a painter of landscapes, still life and portraits, was born in Aberdeen on the 14th December 1917 to Italian immigrant parents.  He studied at Gray's School of Art from 1932-1938.  During the Second World War Morrocco was detained in Edinburgh Castle as an enemy alien.  He was later released and allowed to serve in the Royal Army Medical Corps.  In 1950 Morrocco was appointed head of the School of Painting at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee.  The University of Dundee awarded Morrocco an honorary doctorate in 1980.  He died in Dundee on the 10th March 1998.</text>
