<text>Alexander Goudie was born in Paisley in 1933. He studied at Glasgow School of Art under David Donaldson, William Armour and Benno Schotz. He subsequently tutored there for many years before devoting himself entirely to studio work. He married Marie-Renee Dorval, a native of Brittany, in 1962. He subsequently spent his summers in the fishing village of Loctudy, where he painted many pictures of the surrounding landscape and the local way of life. Goudie was elected a member of the Glasgow Art Club in 1956 and a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 1970. He is best known as a portraitist, though he experimented with a broad range of creative fields. He died in Glasgow on the 27th April 2004.</text>
